China Asset Management Co., Ltd. (ChinaAMC) announced that it has ascertained and offset its 2022 carbon emissions from corporate operations. The move, the second year ChinaAMC met its carbon neutrality, marks the company’s sustained drive to address climate change and contribute to the nation’s grand ambition of “carbon peak by 2030 and neutrality by 2060”.
Partnering with CECEP Environmental Consulting Group, ChinaAMC conducted a thorough accounting of the Scope 1, 2 and part of the Scope 3 emissions occurred in 2022.
The results show ChinaAMC’s total GHG emissions and per capita emissions declined steadily over 2020-2022. Total emission fell 5.26% over the 2020 baseline to 8739.94 tCO2e. The per capita emissions dropped 22.4% over the past two years to 7.37 tCO2e per person. The details are as shown below:
ChinaAMC then offset the emissions from external power by purchasing equivalent amount of I-REC, and neutralized other emission by purchasing wind power project under the Clean Development Mechanism(CDM).
ChinaAMC will continue to push through its carbon emission reduction drive by various measures such as greater use of renewable energy, green office and transportation.
