On May 14, ChinaAMC CEO Li Yimei shared her outlook on China’s economy and mutual fund industry, and investment opportunities ahead, in the high-profile Qatar Economic Forum powered by Bloomberg.

She was invited as a plenary speaker, making her the sole representative of China’s mutual fund industry.

The 4th annual Qatar Economic Forum was held May 14-16 in Doha with the theme 'A World Remade: Navigating the Year of Uncertainty', showcasing a renewed sense of collaboration and a commitment to addressing the challenges presented by an interconnected world. The forum brought together over 2,700 in-person attendees, including 1,000+ global leaders, CEOs, and 427 government officials from 124 countries.

Li Yimei spoke at the session of “Putting Wealth to Work”(Click the link to watch the full version of the panel) on the first day of the forum, alongside Katie Koch, President & CEO of The TCW Group and Manfredi Lefebvre, Chairman of Heritage Group.

The panel discussed the various deliberations regarding investing serious personal wealth, ranging from interest rates to geopolitics, real estate risks to retail private equity.

“Like LEGOs we lay out the cubes that will best position ourselves in any kind of environment.” Li Yimei said when asked about how ChinaAMC dealt with the recent difficult market. “We didn’t slow down… we launched more than 150 new funds and strategies in different areas that we think will best serve the coming trends in the future.”

When asked which asset class provides the most compelling opportunities in the next 12 months, Li Yimei singled out crypto currency. Her confidence is backed by ChinaAMC’s recent launch of two crypto ETFs in Hong Kong.

“It was one of the defining moments in Hong Kong’s capital market because it’s the first time we can have a spot ETF and can do in-kind creation for crypto currency… Finally there’s a connection between the crypto world and the traditional financial market… It’s amazing how much the demand is in Hong Kong.” she added.

Li Yimei ended the panel with two great quotes from the rapid-fire round. “The biggest challenge to wealth creation is adaption to new technology,” she said. “Wealth is the ability to create change for a better world.”
