ChinaAMC forms a strategic partnership with Franklin Templeton
ChinaAMC and Franklin Templeton Sign Strategic MOU to Deepen Cross-Border Collaboration
Shenzhen, October 28, 2026 — China Asset Management Co., Ltd. (ChinaAMC) and Franklin Templeton today announced in Shenzhen, China, the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a significant step in cross-border asset management cooperation between two leading investment institutions.
The MoU establishes a framework for cooperation between the two firms, focusing on areas such as joint product development, sharing of market insights, and exchange of investment expertise. Through the collaboration, the firms intend to explore the development of co-branded ETFs across Hong Kong, UCITS, and U.S. ETF structures, subject to applicable regulatory approvals. The proposed ETFs would seek to provide investors with differentiated access to long-term growth opportunities driven by evolving market themes across China, Asia, and global markets.
The collaboration seeks to bring together the complementary strengths of both firms, combining ChinaAMC's leadership in China's asset management industry, local distribution strengths and expertise in index innovation with Franklin Templeton's global investment platform, ETF capabilities and extensive international distribution network spanning more than 35 countries.
Ms. Yimei Li, CEO of ChinaAMC, commented: “Technological innovation led by artificial intelligence is reshaping global supply chains while profoundly transforming economic landscapes and asset allocation logic. With the world’s most comprehensive industrial supply chain and a flourishing innovation ecosystem, Chinese assets are embracing an entirely new era of opportunities.”
“With a history spanning nearly eight decades, Franklin Templeton has navigated multiple economic cycles while remaining committed to value investing and long-term investing. With approximately USD1.8 trillion in assets under management as of September 30, 2026, its operations span more than 35 countries and regions worldwide.”
“Today’s signing marks the beginning of a deeper strategic partnership. By leveraging our respective resources and expertise, we will develop innovative cross-market investment solutions, create meaningful strategic synergies globally, and provide global investors with a broader range of high-quality products and services.” said Yimei Li.
“China's capital markets are becoming an increasingly important part of the global investment landscape. We are seeing more Chinese investors looking to invest internationally, while global investors continue to seek opportunities in China,” said Daniel Gamba, Co-President & Chief Commercial Officer, Franklin Templeton. “ChinaAMC is one of China's most respected asset managers, with a strong track record of innovation and a deep expertise in the local market. Through this strategic collaboration, we see an exciting opportunity to bring together our respective strengths to develop differentiated ETF solutions that provide compelling opportunities across China and global markets.”
Gamba added, “At Franklin Templeton, we believe that strong partnerships are key to meeting the evolving needs of investors in an increasingly connected world. Our collaboration with ChinaAMC reflects our shared commitment to broadening investor choice, enhancing market access and delivering long-term value through high-quality investment solutions.”
I believe this partnership is not merely a complementary alignment of strengths between two institutions. More importantly, it's an opportunity to bring global investment experience into deeper dialogue with practical expertise in the Chinese market.
Because at the end of the day, innovation isn't about launching a product just to say you've launched something new. It's about solving a real need for investors. And that's the mindset we want to bring to this partnership.
